Employee Spotlight: Danielle Harris

Employee Spotlight

We’re shining the spotlight on Danielle Harris, Lease Expense Manager, our very own detective-turned-number-cruncher, with a background in law enforcement and a previous life as an international gymnast! Danielle’s analytical finesse, inherited from her detective days, now adds a distinctive touch to our team’s expertise.

Can you share more about your background and how it led you to Assure?  My lifelong fascination with criminal behaviour and the legal field led me to study Law & Criminology, with the intention to join the Police and work within their Criminal Investigation Department.  I joined Bedfordshire Police in September 2014, but the demanding shift patterns just weren’t for me, so I resigned after 9 months.  I came across an opportunity at Assure, and with my investigative nature the role really appealed to me, I joined the team in January 2016.

Describe your role at Assure?  My role entails reviewing and analysing financial data in conjunction with the relevant legal documentation. This process is aimed at ensuring our clients only pay what is required.   Challenging costs, scrutinising major works to ensure value for money and necessity, and disputing non-recoverable items, ultimately with the goal of saving our clients’ money.

And when you aren’t working, what do you like to do in your spare time?  I have two young boys, so most of my spare time is spent with them, taking them to their various after school activities. My oldest has just started playing for the local u7s football team, which now takes up my weekends.  Any free time I have is usually spent at my local gym, trying different exercise classes, my favourites being Zumba and Boxercise.

Favourite quotes or sayings:  I’ve got two “Knowledge is power” and “Hell has no fury like a woman scorned.”

Your all-time favourite films:

  • Little Mermaid (original)
  • Dirty Dancing
  • Pretty Woman

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know?  I used to be an international gymnast and competed around Europe.

And one final question, list three items on your bucket list?

  • Murder Mystery on the Orient Express
  • Travel to New Orleans
  • Visit New York at Christmas time (hopefully will be doing this for my 40th, which coincidentally is near Christmas!)
