Employee Spotlight: Lesley Fulton

Employee Spotlight

Here we shine the spotlight on Assure’s Business & Client Relations Manager, Lesley Fulton.

Can you share more about your background and how it led you to Assure?

Over the past two decades (or so!), I held account management and business development positions in the recruitment & property services sectors.  In 2016, I became Assure’s external recruitment partner.  At that time Assure had 14 employees; we now have 50.  The fact that so many of the people I recruited over the years still work at Assure speaks volumes about our culture.  I joined Assure in 2021 in a newly created role, to say I jumped at the opportunity is an understatement!

What gets you most excited about coming to work?

Aside from working with a great team of people, my role is extremely varied.  From collaborating across the teams on projects to establishing new client relationships, marketing, recruiting new talent to arranging events.  Every day is different, and it’s a challenge I really enjoy.

And when you aren’t working,  what do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy being out in the fresh air, especially when I’m accompanied by my energetic dog, Bella.  I try to walk 10 miles a day,  weather permitting!  I love music and travel, so I try to combine the two where I can.  Next month, I’m going to see The Cure in Barcelona.  At home, I’m often found with a book in one hand and nice glass of red in the other.   Plus, I’ve recently applied to become a helpline volunteer with The Silver Line to offer friendship and support to older people.

Favourite quote

“What’s for you, won’t go past you”

Something my granny used to always say, I’m a firm believer if it’s meant to be, it will happen.

Your top 3 favourite Podcasts/Books?

  • Podcasts:  UK True Crime, They Walk Among Us & Murder Mile (I love true crime!)
  • Books:  The Crew, Asperger’s Children & The Tattooist’s of Auschwitz – I’m fascinated by WW2!

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know?

In 1986, I was part of the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.  I was in the dance troop and choir.  Odd considering my singing and dancing abilities have been questioned since!

And one final question, list three items on your bucket list?

  • Travel to Bora Bora – would need to be for at least 3 weeks though!
  • Fly in a Spitfire – my aunt at the age of 74 did this recently and it’s something I really want to experience
  • Start bagging Munro’s – There are 282 in Scotland. I believe it becomes quite addictive!
