Employee Spotlight: Ryan Davis

Employee Spotlight

Meet Ryan Davis:  Senior Lease Expense Manager during the day, and once a ball hockey sensation at night.  He proudly brought home a major medal victory for Great Britain in the world championships. Over to you Ryan…

Can you share more about your background and how it led you to Assure?  I’ve done a bit of everything previously from retail to an apprentice joiner, but most recently before Assure I was working as a footwear buyer for the UK’s largest sports retailer. This gave me a lot of experience in analysing and picking out trends in data, as well as satisfying my obsession with buying shoes. When I had my youngest child the hustle and bustle of travelling to central London didn’t appeal to me anymore and I fancied a bit of a change. I was made aware of some jobs going at Assure by Isabel Owen and I haven’t looked back!

 What gets you most excited about coming to work?   It sounds a bit cliché but I enjoy working with my colleagues and as a company, Assure are very collaborative and actively encourage collaborative working from top to bottom, sharing the wealth of knowledge between everyone and I think that’s what sets us apart from the competition.

And when you aren’t working, what do you like to do in your spare time?  I played ice hockey up until very recently, but after 16 years the late-night training has taken its toll! So, I’m now mostly at the gym, playing golf or going out with my family, I have two children who are 12 and 4 so they keep me pretty busy!

Favourite quote:  Try to do one thing a day, to make someone else’s life easier.

Your top 3 favourite Podcasts/Books?  I’m not much of a reader but I listen to a lot of podcasts in the car, the ones on my current rotation are;

  • The Therapy Crouch – Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancey
  • Extraordinary Lives – Lad Bible
  • The Joe Rogan Experience

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know?

I played a sport not very well known in the UK (but is quite big in Europe, USA and Canada) called Ball Hockey and I was part of the first Great Britain team to receive a medal at a world championships.

And one final question, list three items on your bucket list?

    • To attend the Monaco grand prix
    • Ride Route 66 with my Dad and Brother
    • Play Pond Hockey (ice hockey on a frozen pond/lake) in Canada
