Here we shine the spotlight on Victoria Wakeford who joined the team at Assure back in 2011:

Position at Assure:  Associate

Can you share more about your background and how it led you to Assure?

My working life started as a book keeper and then working for a firm of accountants working on Audits and monthly management accounts for a number of small businesses.  After getting seconded to a client for a number of months, I realised that the possibility of going back to auditing was not my cup of tea (why did the auditor cross the road? Because it said in their audit pack they did it last year).  I moved to Oxford in 2001 and worked for Savills in their Client Accounts department, making Associate level. In 2005 I moved to Northants, and after a while working part time as the book keeper for a car hire company, started working for a service charge consultant in Bedford.  When Lee started Assure Consulting I was approached and joined in November 2011.

What gets you most excited about coming to work?

I like to help people, and if I feel that I’m making a difference, it spurs me on.  Being able to save clients money and help with their processes just makes me feel good.  

And when you aren’t working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Outside of work I like to walk, watch films or box sets and reading.  I love Columbo. I am also determined to learn how to use my sewing machine before I’m 50 and finish knitting a scarf (that I started in 2019).

• You’re dead to me
• The unbelievable truth
• I don’t have a favourite book, but I do like detective stories (such as the Roy Grace series and the Tom Douglas series) or an autobiography (recently read Daisy May Coopers and Bob Mortimers).

And one final question, list three items on your bucket list?

• I would love to see the Northern Lights
• I would like to Climb Snowdon (and get back down again uninjured)
• Holiday on Necker Island
